Community for Wellness

Get strong and healthy with Community for Wellness

Community for Wellness (CFW) provides adults (21+) with free group yoga, Zumba, and fitness classes that improve your emotional outlook, enhance your physical health, and create a stronger sense of belonging. You’ll be given tools to set and track your personal wellness goals and stay active in a joyful community setting. Classes are led by passionate, dedicated Spanish/English bilingual instructors.

Those who are ready to take their health journey to the next level can transition to Community as Medicine (CAM), a 12-week program that provides fun ways for you to reduce stress, build community, embrace good eating habits, and improve your physical and emotional well-being.

“These classes have helped me a lot, especially with my pain.”

Fitness that Puts Community First

CAM represents a new investment in our community’s health and human capital with structured fitness, mindfulness, and group activities aimed at making measurable improvements in your physical and emotional well-being. CAM also improves the health of the entire community by reducing isolation and strengthening our social capital.

“I’m meeting more people, and we’re motivating each other to try new things we couldn’t before.”

Find inspiration, reduce anxiety, and improve your quality of life through consistent, long-term engagement in healthy behaviors in a supportive, community setting

Certified Coaches Lead the Way

As a CAM participant, you will be assigned a personal coach who will check in with you on a weekly basis to help you reach your goals. Our team of Spanish/English bilingual coaches were trained and certified using OpenSource Wellness’s proven community-as-medicine training methodology. OpenSource, an Oakland-based nonprofit, is committed to equalizing accessibility to health practices for joyful, trauma-informed, culturally relevant programs for health, well-being, and human connection.

Value of Community-based Health

Research shows the importance of strong social relationships in preventing diseases and reducing mortality. PAL Center’s vision is to address these issues head-on by creating a sustainable community wellness ecosystem that improves quality of life through consistent, long-term participation in healthy behaviors.

“I’ve never seen a program like this!”
