What an unforgettable day out on the water! ⛵️✨

Our Community Family Day on March 15 was packed with energy — some participants set sail, some took on rowing (and let’s just say, the rowers really felt that workout! haha) — but everyone had an amazing time. Erick’s Deli kept everyone fueled for the fun with a delicious lunch, and the day was full of sunshine, teamwork, and new skills!

Big thanks to our partners @norcal.crew - @peninsulaysf and all the families who joined us. It was a day full of smiles, connection, and a whole lot of adventure. Can’t wait for the next one!

Join us at the PAL Center for our Middle School Parent & Child Connection Series — a space to build stronger bonds, improve communication, and navigate the challenges of adolescence together. 💬💡

Every Wednesday from 6:30–7:30pm, we’ll cover important topics like online safety, healthy digital habits, cyberbullying prevention, and even explore love languages within the family! 💻🧡

✨ Food and childcare will be provided.
✨ Sessions available in English and Spanish.
✨ For parents of children in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

🔹Redwood City Together (@rwctogether) recently wrapped up its first-ever Leadership Propeller Program, a transformative experience designed to support middle managers in growing their leadership skills and building connections across sectors.
Three of our very own Pal Center staff were part of the inaugural cohort, and we’re so proud of what they took away from the journey:

💬 “Leadership is unique to each individual... no leader is perfect, but understanding yourself and building positive relationships is essential.” – Lidia

The six-month program brought together 18 changemakers dedicated to growing as leaders within their organizations and communities. We’re grateful to Redwood City Together for creating this space, and proud to invest in the leadership development of our team.

We couldn’t be prouder of Daniel Moreno — one of Redwood City’s own. Raised in this community, Daniel worked at the Pal Center as a mentor at our Hoover Elementary site and also supported our PACE program, working with high school youth. With a heart for service, he showed up for our young people in meaningful ways and now we’ve had the joy of watching him graduate from the police academy. From mentoring youth to stepping into a role of leadership, Daniel represents the best of what it means to be homegrown.
This moment is full circle, and we’re cheering him on every step of the way. 💙🙌 @redwoodcitypd

🎤✨ Meet the incredible MCs of this year’s Orgullo y Educación Latinx Youth Conference!

Desire Cortez, Chris Velasco, Juliana Garcia, and PAL Center’s own Yamileth Arroyo took the stage with confidence and energy, keeping the crowd engaged and the event running smoothly. As the MC trainer, Tito worked to equip them with the skills to command the stage, speak with clarity, and navigate any challenge with ease. From cold pizzas to TikTok dance breaks, every moment leading up to the big day was filled with growth, fun, and laughter!

A huge shoutout to @titoo.alv, our Youth Empowerment Specialist at PAL, for supporting our youth every step of the way! We are so proud to be part of this powerful conference that continues to evolve while staying deeply rooted in community, culture, and the strength of our youth. Can’t wait for OYE 2026!

Today, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring meaningful enrichment opportunities to our students. Our Operations Assistant, Nancy, unboxed a generous donation from Free Guitars for Kids — and by the end of the day, that guitar was already in the hands of one of our youth, making music and memories.
This is just one moment from our guitar program, where students not only get to learn and grow through music classes — they also get to take their guitars home. 🎶 We’re so grateful to offer experiences that last far beyond the classroom.

🌟 “We are made up of a multitude of stories.”

Last week, we had the honor of hearing from Michelle Vilchez, CEO of Innovate Public Schools, as part of our Doers, Movers, & Shakers: Inspiring Journeys Speaker Series for our team. She reminded us that our stories—every piece, the good, the bad, the messy—shape who we are and how we show up in the world.

Her words challenged us to reflect: Are we clear about our own story? How does it shape the way we connect with others? She reminded us that relationships, purpose, and impact all start with knowing ourselves first.
